You don't need your own dog but you probably need to like them! We are a people and dog-friendly group, typically taking a 2-3 hour walk with 25-30 people (and 25-30 dogs!) every other weekend in Gloucestershire or nearby. We also have evening walks in the summer, activities like canoeing and weekends away.
Gloucestershire Walking with Dogs is run as a voluntary, amateur social group (your Meetup membership terms include a release of liability for group organisers). Think of it as joining a group of friends for a walk, where you are responsible for the safety and actions of yourself and your dogs.
Like any responsible walker, we expect everyone to close gates, put dogs on leads around livestock, and take other reasonable steps to stay safe and be courteous to landowners and other users of the areas we visit.
We ask for 50p on walks towards the Meetup subscription fee, with any remaining money kept in a kitty for other group activities or donated to charity (organisers do not receive any income). If paid activities are organised, these are charged at the cost of the third party without markup.
